MOGILEV, 8 July (BelTA) – During a visit to Mogilev State Breeding Enterprise's goat breeding farm, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko was presented with two goats: the Saanen and the Alpine, BelTA has learned.
Both animals were bred at the farm and are 4.5 and 5 months old. The Saanen goat produces up to 3.7 kg of milk per day, while the Alpine goat yields around 4.6 kg.
The Saanen breed is known worldwide for its white coat, high productivity, relatively large size, and lack of horns. Milk output varies depending on care and conditions. In Belarus, it typically ranges from 700 to 1,200 liters per year.
The Alpine breed, like the Saanen, is among the most widespread in the world. However, unlike the latter, Alpine goats come in a variety of coat colors. Their productivity is also quite high, averaging about 800 liters of milk per year. These animals are known for their docile temperament, low maintenance requirements, and ability to withstand even harsh weather conditions.
Milk from both breeds lacks the distinctive “goaty” odor and tastes very similar to cow’s milk.
The farm currently houses 687 animals, including 394 breeding does, 17 breeding bucks, and 276 young goats.
