MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) – Peace in Belarus is the core premise of the state policy, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during a solemn assembly held on 1 July in anticipation of Independence Day, BelTA has learned.
“We celebrate Independence Day under peaceful skies and cherish it very much. We are doing everything to keep peace and thus pay the debt to the generation of victors who gave us 80 years of this peaceful life. We are doing everything to live up to their expectations. Otherwise, what did they die for? Belarus under peaceful skies is both the core premise of our entire policy and the vision of the future we are striving for,” the head of state said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that Belarusians have many plans: simple, personal, important for the whole country. For example, the country recently held graduation balls. The university admission campaign began. It gets the attention at the highest level. “Our children are soon to take an important step into adulthood, parents are nervous. The government and the president keep tabs on the situation understanding that this is your life. It's not some potatoes that got lost in a warehouse somewhere. This is the future of the most enlightened, most gifted, purposeful people - the builders of our future,” the president said.

He noted that farmers are in for the ‘hot’ harvest time. The results will be summed up during the Dazhynki harvest festival. Aleksandr Lukashenko asked citizens not to stay away from these matters, because many city dwellers hail from villages. "We must not forget that the village feeds and clothes us today," the head of state said. “The main task is to feed the country and make some money.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko also recalled the upcoming favorite summer festivals in Alexandria and Vitebsk. The whole country will gather there and welcome friends from near and far abroad.
“These plans are peaceful indeed, aren’t they?” the head of state asked rhetorically.
