MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) - Law enforcement agencies of Belarus and the UAE intend to cooperate in combating human trafficking, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs following a working meeting between Belarusian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov and UAE Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Interior Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Ivan Kubrakov emphasized that cooperation in the law enforcement sector between the two countries is gaining momentum. He reaffirmed Belarus' readiness to expand this partnership across various areas. During the meeting, the parties discussed such topics as combating international terrorism, drug trafficking, human trafficking, material and technical support, and mutual training programs.
Last year, UAE police officers successfully completed training in Belarus on maintaining public order during mass events. In the coming days, law enforcement personnel from Abu Dhabi will take part in another training session. "There are all the prerequisites for further cooperation, not only in previously established programs but also in new initiatives. We attach great importance to the quality of training sessions with our foreign colleagues," the minister noted.
Ivan Kubrakov stressed that the Belarusian side supports the UAE's proposal to establish a joint project to combat human trafficking and child sexual abuse. Bilateral expert meetings are set to be held in the near future to discuss this initiative in detail.
